Framing

Sawmill Gallery has a well equipped framing workshop enabling us to offer you a comprehensive custom framing service. We specialize in the production of handcrafted Australian hardwood frames and can also custom make frames from a wide selection of commercially available frame moldings.

We can advise customers on the most suitable method of hanging your artwork, what lighting to use and which matt board colours will work best with your art. Track hanging systems, as used in most galleries including our own, are also available for sale.

Scanning

If high-end scanning is what you need, Sawmill Gallery can help you. Most desktop scanners have a limited dynamic range ie they can’t capture the subtle transition of tone throughout the image, particularly in shadow areas. We use a virtual drum scanner which is capable of capturing this detail (resolution 6300dpi, Dmax 4.2) from negatives and transparencies.

We have a fixed scan rate of $27.50 for files up to 100mb which is outstanding value for high-end scanning. We are also happy to do a test scan for you at no charge.

Samples of our scan quality can also be viewed at the gallery.

Printing

Many of the photographic prints exhibited at our gallery have been printed by us using archival quality, pigment based inks that are extremely resistant to fading. Independent tests show that in normal conditions these prints will last at least 75 years before detectable colour fading occurs. Our prints also have a wider range of colours (gamut) and more fidelity than that seen in offset printing which is used for posters, magazines and books etc.

To calculate print cost, multiple length by height in centimetres and multiply by 0.0165.

eg 29.7cm x 21cm x 0.0165 = $10.29 (A4)

Canvas Printing and more!

The latest development in printing means we can now get prints done not just on canvas but on virtually any surface.

We can for example have images printed onto, corrugated iron, glass (for splashbacks), shadecloth, etc. You name it and it can probably be done.
