Men’s Club Challenge

Veterans Club ChallengeWelcome to the Club Challenge. We have 16 teams competing, 10 in the first division and 6 in the seconds. Rules: The competition will be played under the auspices of Hockey Canberra, and as such normal conditions of play set out by Hockey Canberra and FIH will apply. In particular teams should note: 1.that each team must field a Goalkeeper or a kicking back wearing approved head protection. 2.red cards awarded during this competition will be referred to the Association’s disciplinary committee. DurationGames will be of two 30-minute halves with a 5 minute half time break. ResultsPlease complete match cards for each game, including details of players names. All match cards to be returned to the box in the bar at Lyneham after the games. Results from Goulburn need to be forwarded to Tim Nell as soon as possible after the game. Tim can be contacted on 0417 896 549 or by email on tim.nell@webone.com.au. (but remember he will be sometimes playing directly after your game. Competition ProgressThis draw, including any updates, results and a ladder will be posted on the Hockey ACT website, www.hockeyact.org.au/veterans Determining competition winnersFirst division: Teams will play six rounds, with the team placed first on the ladder declared the winner (ie no finals). If necessary goal percentages will be used to separate teams Second Division: Each team will play each other team once and the final round will be a playoff; first versus second; third versus fourth; fifth versus sixth. ForfeitsThe team unable to field a side receives 0 points. The other team will receive points for a 5-0 win. PLEASE NOTE: Players will not be allowed to play for more than one team. The exception to this rule will be goalkeepers, who will be allowed to play the extra game if required to ensure the game goes ahead PointsPoints for each game will be allocated on the following basis: 0 – team forfeit (includes a team unable to provide a keeper or properly equipped kicking back) 1 – Awarded to losing teams for completing the game 2 – Awarded to both teams for a scoreless draw 3 – Awarded to both teams for a score draw 4 – Awarded to a team winning by one or two goals 5 – Awarded to a team winning by 3 or more goals PenaltiesTeams who fail to meet an umpiring commitment will loose 2 competition points. Hospitality at Lyneham At the conclusion of each game some food will be provided in the bar, approximately 10 minutes after the game. UmpiresAll teams coordinators have been asked to ensure rostered umpires are available and able. Cherryl Fuller has volunteered to act as an umpire coordinator and will be approaching Hockey Canberra to find a listing of qualified umpires who may be interested in undertaking the duty on clubs behalf. Clubs will be responsible for ensuring an umpire is present and making any agreed payments. |
